Education Vs Commercialization
I freakin loved the book fair at my elementary school. I would usually get some cash from my parents and buy some cool things, in which would be calendars, books, or erasers and such. It was a serious childhood moment, but I wonder if these moments are fading to a more commercial future.
As I mentioned before, things are changing with the advancement of technology. And with technology, kids can get more saturated with advertisements and crap. Back when I was a kid, usually the only places you would get any kind of media was through the TV, which was all in real time, and publications. Now that we have the internet, media is available at anytime. Hell, I hear that kid that is living with us consistently signing in her room to some Hannah Montana song (Disney channel needs to die)
Now jumping back to the book fair, I came across this video and I wonder why the hell they would have all that Disney channel crap, and video games? I was excited if I found some SMB book or something at the book fair. But apparently that is really all they have there. Toys and crap...
I do understand that it is a fundraiser, but you have to draw the line somewhere, or start selling cigarettes to kids. I guess with the easily access media, and pop icons, we are only going to get this crap, and it is only going to get worse... Maybe I am just sick and tired of seeing Hannah Montana shit every where... at home...
Die Disney Die!
