Looking For Something More
One of the biggest conflicts I have gone through is trying to find a browser that meets my needs. It seems as if I find one browser has something the other doesn't and there will never be a "perfect browser" a good example of this is when I switched from Firefox to Chrome because of how slow firefox was with all the add-ons.
I don't know, it was a lot easier back in the day, since I was welcomed to the world wide web by Netscape on the Mac, which shifted over to windows. Then switching to IE4, I remember putting icons on my website stating how AOL's browser sucks and get IE, little did I know it was pretty much the same engine.
Using IE all the way up to IE6sp1, with the only add-on was yahoo toolbar I believe. When I finally gave up on how unstable it was, and got sick of losing my whole startbar and taskbar icons when it crashed, I made the switch to firefox, and came to realize how much has evolved in the world of browsing.
It is much like the story of the tortoise and the hare. where microsoft was the hare, speeding through the race until it was so far ahead, it just stopped... and netscape/mozilla, caught up and eventually surpassed them greatly in the sense of advancement. Now microsoft is playing catchup.
I switched to Chrome, and chrome has been great, but I still fee like I am looking for something more. I have been playing with Opera a lot, I think trying to force myself to like it enough to make the switch, but I can't seem to just get there. Opera is known to be a very advance browser and usually the first of many things in the sense of browsers, but I can;t really put my finger why I haven;t made the change yet. I guess I am trying to find something that isn't there. Would be nice if I could love the email client in it.
Anyway, who knows. Things have changed a lot. Where people really only knew of Netscape and Internet Explorer, now there is such an array of different browsers to choose from. Now and days it seems more about features than how it displays the site, thanks to w3c, though I am sick of the sites that require IE still.
Sigh... I think ima kick back and watch The Wizard
Edit: Fuck it... I'm going to make Opera my default email client and browser and see how it goes :)
